Brandy & Jeff |Bethany Beach Wedding, Delaware

September 29th, 2011

Brandy & Jeff traveled from Vancouver, British Columbia for their wedding in Bethany Beach. Why?

Well, years ago Jeff’s family was planning a road trip down the east coast and his father wrote requests to a number of towns. (Yes, hand wrote requests.) Bethany Beach was one of the first to respond and its inviting visitors guide and information packet won him over. (Yay for Delaware!) They came, they saw, and they returned… for years. Jeff grew up spending summers in Bethany and when he found the woman he knew he wanted to marry, where did he ask her? Bethany of course.

So it was a natural choice to have their wedding on the beach in Delaware. Enjoy…

Awaiting the bride…

Post-ceremony cocktails…

If any future brides and grooms want to bust out some moves like this during the family formals, please feel free!

We managed to get at least one shot before the waves came in…

Brandy & Jeff are a super creative couple and did an amazing job with the wedding styling and invitation design. I especially love the fish net filled with photos of them and their friends and family…

Perfect late afternoon sunlight…

My favorites of the day…

Reception at Northeast Seafood Kitchen…

Hope you’ll continue to enjoy Bethany Beach for years to come… congratulations!

Ty & Walt |Waterfall wedding, Wilmington, DE

September 23rd, 2011

I had so much fun with Ty & Walt during their engagement shoot a few months back, I knew the wedding would be great. Here’s a little sneak peek…

Gorgeous Maggie Sottero dress…

Rockford Park in Wilmington for portraits…

This may be my favorite shot of the day…

I know everyone was trying to hold it together, but sometimes you just can’t keep the emotions down. That’s not such a bad thing…

Lot’s of smiles and laughs along with the tears…

And the first dance…

Sharon & Emmanuel |Liberty House wedding, Jersey City, NJ

August 23rd, 2011

Here are a few images from a wedding I photographed recently with the very talented Mr. Tyson Trish…

A pregnant bride… woo hoo! The dress was so flattering we had to ask Sharon to accentuate the fact…

Tying the tie, YouTube to the rescue…

The patio at Liberty House made a great location for the first look…

Sharon & Emmanuel met in the yoga community and there were beautiful tributes to their devotion all throughout the wedding day. The wooden sculpture and figures next to the cake… that’s Radha and Krishna, together the embodiment of love and divine joy…

Liz & Josh|Sea Isle City bridal session

July 18th, 2011

I photographed Liz & Josh’s Philadelphia wedding earlier this year, when the skies opened up and it poured the entire day! (Feel free to take a peek at their wedding blog post.) It must have been pay back, because the day we scheduled for Liz’s bridal session in Sea Isle City, NJ was absolutely gorgeous.

The original plan was to photograph Liz mostly alone and add Josh in for a few photos here and there. But their energy together is so great that we ended up with Josh in front of the camera plenty. Plus he was instrumental in getting Liz into some challenging spots! Check it out below.

A newly renovated pavillion and amphitheater made for a great back drop in downtown Sea Isle…

Yes, I will occasionally ask my couples to get into some odd spaces….

But it’s worth the effort for images like this…

And these…

Loved this spot just over the bridge in Avalon for portraits…

And finally, my absolute favorite of the day…

I had such a great time with you both and hope to see you again soon!

Liz & Maya |NJ maternity session

June 29th, 2011

I recently had the pleasure of doing a maternity session with Liz and her adorable daughter Maya. I love re-visiting families to document them as they grow and change. Maya was a toddler last time I photographed her and she’s grown into an adorable little girl… with a super personality.

We set up a portable home studio and Liz, who is used to being behind the camera rather than in front of it, was a fantastic model! A few of my faves…

Daniel & Patrick |South Jersey newborn photographer

June 18th, 2011

A few photos from a recent session with (sort of) newborn twins Daniel & Patrick. I say “sort of” because the two boys arrived early… and spent a few weeks stealing the hearts of the NICU nurses at Cooper University Hospital in South Jersey. Mom & Dad brought them home recently and they are healthy and doing great! Enjoy…

Daniel was only 2 lbs. at birth… now a whopping 8 lbs. 14 oz.

Ty & Walt|Wilmington, DE engagement

May 18th, 2011

It’s always a roll of the dice going through with a shoot when the forecast calls for rain. Where is spring this year anyway? Fortunately last weekend worked out perfectly for Ty & Walt’s engagement session in Wilmington.

We had planned to meet in Brandywine Park near the zoo, but little did we know it was the date of the Delaware Marathon… and the route would be going right through the park and all the roads would be closed off. I had scouted another location so it was easy to improvise and we headed up the road a bit – to a perfect little (sort of hidden) garden spot in the city.

I always encourage couples to do a pre-wedding engagement photo session if possible. It’s great to spend some time together before the wedding day and I inevitably learn quite a bit. Some information is helpful, some surprising and some is just plain fun.

I already knew about Ty’s devotion to the Dallas Cowboys and Walt’s affinity for the San Francisco 49ers , and I discovered their shared affinity for irreverent, animated TV shows.

I knew that Walt’s father, a minister, would be performing their ceremony. What I didn’t know, however, is that they went through their pre-marriage counseling sessions with him!

Ty and Walt were super comfortable and natural in front of the camera. They will bust out dance moves at the drop of a hat. And they believe a game of rock, paper, scissors is a perfectly acceptable way to settle disputes! I love it.

Thanks for an “amazing” day. Enjoy…

Dogs of The Watsons

May 17th, 2011

Recently spent some time with the amazing creatives at The Watsons. I love offices where you can bring your dog to work!

We were photographing portraits for a great non-profit campaign, and after we finished, in wandered the dogs. We had the lights, the white seamless, the camera and very willing models. How could you pass up photographing these adorable faces?

Liz & Josh – Philadelphia wedding

April 27th, 2011

With the crazy weather we’ve been having this spring, I was keeping my fingers crossed that we’d be free of rain on Liz and Josh’s wedding day. We were hoping to spend some time photographing around the Philadelphia Art Museum but we weren’t so lucky. (The downpour was so bad – as we learned on our drive home – it caused mudslides that closed down the Schuylkill Expressway!) But our back up plan was in place and we headed to Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station for the portraits. Liz and Josh are a pretty laid back couple and the rain didn’t seem to faze them a bit. Check out the photos below.

Liz’s makeup was done by Russell Borns…

Love the color and flower choice in the bouquet by The Bouquet Shop in Bryn Mawr…

Liz looking stunning before heading to the church…

Mom looking on and dad doing the rainy-day-wedding umbrella shuttle service to the limo…

A wave to grandma on the way down the aisle at Holy Family Church in Roxborough…

Liz’s giggle – because she was initially putting the ring on Josh’s right hand…

Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station made a great spot for portraits. I especially love this first one…

Touching and humorous toasts at The Hilton Philadelphia on City Ave…

Gorgeous cake by pastry chef (and friend of the bride) Nicole Endrikat…

And what’s a wedding without grown men in sequins and funny hats? The Mummers – members of the Fralinger String Band – make an appearance and the strutting on the dance floor begins…

Liz and Josh thanks for a great day!

RISE – to support U.S. Figure Skating

January 13th, 2011

Last year I had the opportunity to photograph figure skating legends Peggy Fleming, Dorothy Hamill, Scott Hamilton, Brian Boitano and Michelle Kwan when they gathered for the filming of the documentary RISE.

The film commemorates the 50th anniversary of the 1961 U.S. World Figure Skating Team that perished in a plane crash on its way to the World Championships in Prague and will premiere nationwide in a one-night-only event Feb. 17, 2011. Proceeds will benefit U.S. Figure Skating’s Memorial Fund – established on Feb. 23, 1961, as a living legacy of those who lost their lives. You can check here to see where the film is playing and purchase tickets.

Brian Boitano was a hoot…

It’s always fun shooting candid images behind the scenes, and it was great to have a little time for portraits with the athletes!

They were fantastic to work with as were the amazing teams at Lookalike Productions

and The Watsons.
